Hi, Camo Fans. This week we are discussing hte The Woodsman Ultralight Jacket and Pants Ghillie Suit. This is the latest update to one of the most popular two-piece suits we carry, and it’s easy to see why it’s stuck around. The first version used to be called simply “Synthetic jacket and pants”. But this is the Ultra-Light Jacket and Pants set with a couple of upgrades that actually matter in the field: a removable, zippered mosquito netting built into the hood, and zippered pockets on both the jacket and the pants.
Like our other Ultra-Light suits, the Woodsman uses a synthetic build instead of jute. That means it’s noticeably lighter than a natural-fiber suit, doesn’t soak up water and get heavy in the rain, and won’t carry that burlap smell jute is known for. It’s also rot-proof, mildew-resistant, naturally fire-retardant, washable, and won’t irritate your skin the way some jute suits can. Construction is three layers: a soft base layer you can wear a t-shirt under, nylon netting sewn over that, and synthetic ghillie thread tied into the netting in a random pattern so you can tuck in local vegetation and customize it further.
The jacket has a hood built right in, a zip-up front with a covering flap, and a drawcord at the waist. The pants have an elastic waistband plus belt loops if you’d rather cinch it that way, and both pieces have cord locks at the cuffs to keep the suit snug and the bugs out. A medium runs right around 5 lbs for the complete jacket-and-pants set — light enough that you forget you’re wearing a full ghillie suit after the first few minutes. Unless you completely forget and trip over an exposed tree root!
You get two color options: Woodland, which leans dark with black, brown, dark green, and tan for thick, shaded terrain, and Mossy, a lighter mix of brown, tan, and light green that works well in drier or more open ground. Sizing runs by waist measurement rather than standard suit sizing — a 32″ waist puts you in a Medium, a 36″ waist in a Large, and so on up to X-Large. Suits run a little large and long on purpose, so there’s room for base layers underneath without feeling restrictive. The x-Large will fit up to a 7′ tall person. wow.
Because it’s a jacket-and-pants set rather than a poncho, the Woodsman gives you a lot more freedom of movement, which is why it’s such a common pick for hunters, airsoft players, and paintballers who need to actually move around in their gear rather than sit still in a blind all day.
If you want easy mobility, low weight, and a suit you can keep customizing as the season changes, the Woodsman Ultralight Jacket and Pants Ghillie Suit is worth a look. You can check sizing, colors, and pricing on the Woodsman Ultralight Jacket and Pants Ghillie Suit page.
